Immerse yourself in the enthralling narrative that offers a unique perspective on historical events and their impact on the present day.
I really enjoyed reading this book about the middle east. I found it very well researched, and a great starting point to get an overview of the history of the area. The beginning talks about the start of Christianity, and a history about when the gospels were written. I found the most interesting section to be the changing map of the area of Israel, starting with the Ottoman Empire, then with Jewish families purchasing land, to the modern day borders and settlements. I highly recommend this book. Karen

About The Author

I grew up in a traditional Jewish family in Europe, shaped by the shadows of World War II. My parents, both survivors of the war, had navigated its horrors—one by adopting a false identity and the other by finding refuge in Switzerland. They raised me with a cautious awareness of my Jewish identity, teaching me to avoid overt expressions of it to guard against hostility. My interest in the Middle East conflict was sparked at the age of 16, and I have been deeply engaged with the topic ever since. In 2013, seeking a career change, I pursued a master’s degree in peacebuilding. For my internship, I chose a peacebuilding NGO in Jerusalem, driven by a desire to witness the conflict firsthand. During this time, I attended conferences in both Israel and the Palestinian Territories, and joined political tours of the West Bank organized by groups like Breaking the Silence, Rabbis for Human Rights, and other NGOs advocating for Palestinian human rights. My internship involved documenting my experiences through articles, which were published in the Palestine-Israel Journal. At the time, I was a firm believer in the two-state solution. I recognized Israel’s repeated genuine offers for a two-state arrangement, all of which had been rejected by successive Palestinian leaders. Having closely followed every Israel-Hamas war since 2006, I was not surprised by the international response to the events of October 7. Initially, I began writing my essay, From Medieval Anti-Judaism to the Gaza War of 2023–24, as a personal outlet—a blend of therapy and a resource for debates. Over time, it grew into a manuscript of more than 200 pages, which I eventually published as a book. Since its release, new developments have emerged that were not covered in the original work. I am now contemplating an updated edition to address these recent events.
